Boss Values Honesty More Than Public Criminal Record
29 September 2009
A couple of years ago, I got into some really serious legal trouble. At the time, I acted stupidly, not knowing my illegal actions would become a matter of public knowledge. I was going through a very important job interview, and my boss asked me if I had ever been in any trouble with the law. She looked me right in the eye, and my heart was racing from fear of losing the job, but I told her the truth, not knowing that she had already accessed my public criminal records. She smiled and told me that she appreciated my honesty and was happy to hire me for being willing to come clean.
