Walking with Sciatica
21 February 2010
For the past three years I have been suffering from intermittent sciatica. When the pain strikes it is unbearable and I collapse wherever I am. This is very scary as I have collapsed at the grocery store and while carrying my young child. My doctor has recommended that I begin a walking program to help alleviate symptoms and lessen my chances of the conditions recurring as walking with sciatica is doable when other exercises may not be. We are working out a plan now so I can start slowly and gradually work up to walking longer and longer distances. I will need to get a treadmill so I can continue my routine during the winter months. We get a lot of snow here and I don’t want that to interfere and cause my back pain to return.
