No Gifts for My Retirement, Please
As I get closer to retirement, I keep thinking about all of the junk I have seen my friends get when they retired. I don’t mean that in a bad way, but people seem to think it’s funny to give a goofy retirement gift to people leaving a job. Me, I want people to be serious, to say “Thank You” for doing what you did for so long. So I’m thinking that maybe I won’t tell anyone at all when I retire. I might just casually mention one day that it is my last day, and leave it at that. No fanfare, just a quick goodbye.
