Dog is man’s best friend and also his best competition
I adopted a dog a few months ago. He’s 110 lbs and two years old. I named him Chief. I decided that it would be a good idea for him and me to get a bit more exercise. However, I only have a mere 15 lbs on Chief. I had to find a way for both of us to get an acceptable work out. I chose to train him how to run with me. I started off by taking him outside and playing fetch with him first just to tire him out a bit. This didn’t stop him from trying to sprint off when I started jogging next to him. He took off faster than I could actually run, yanking me down with his leash. I hit the grass just hard enough to put a little frustration in my voice when I called him back. I got up and grabbed his leash and tried again. This time, I was prepared for him to jerk forward and counteracted it. A little strain on his leash of my own and he was jogging beside me, tongue hanging out, tail wagging. Now, we go running every night and the vet says he’s in great shape and my doctor says so am I.
